History of Sta. Rosa Catholic School (Formerly Sta. Rosa De Lima Learning Center)
Sta. Rosa de Lima Learning Center, founded in SY 1981 – 1982 and the precursor of the present Sta. Rosa Catholic School, puts into context the parish mission of evangelization. As an expression of the spirit of community building, the school becomes an integral part of, but secondary to, the external unifying symbol that is Sta. Rosa De Lima Parish Church and Community Center. “Bahay ng Tao, Bahay ng Diyos”.
Tasked with the Christian formation of the youth in the environment imbued with Gospel values, the school provides the place and the forum for the continuing collaboration between the parish and the schoolchildren with their families. This reaching – out thrust, visualized in the “Damayang – Ugat” parish logo of the early 80’s became the method, strategy and goal of the community. Our school development reflected the same course in terms of physical structure, personnel and resources, academic growth and social benefits.
Voted by the majority of the Board of Trustees Sta. Rosa Parochial School has been registered as Sta. Rosa Catholic School at the SEC last August 7, 2001.
The first Preschool was blest on June 21, 1981 with Mr. and Mrs Virgilio Melendres as main sponsor. It was a converted 9m x 10m conference area at the church basement plus a lobby about 10m x 11m serving as a waiting area for school habitués. St. Paul College (Pasig) donated chairs, tables, toys and instructional devices and materials.
With minor renovations, the basement housed the Sta. Rosa De Lima Learning Center and was used until SY 1983-1985. On April 20, 1985, a new two – room school building with the “best facilities in town” was blest. Thanks to the efforts of the late Rev. Msgr. Isidro L. Jose and the generous donations in cash and in kind of parishioners and friends. Considered a giant step forward, the Grade School level was opened to accommodate the increasing number of enrollees every year. The Learning Center was renamed Sta. Rosa Parochial School in 1988 with Mrs. Teresita Mateo, appointed as the Grade School Coordinator. The school appeared moving to a brighter future. Its building was converted into a four – room school building through the initiative of the late Rev. Msgr. Isidro L. Jose and the school principal, Ms. Belen B. Ramos (1989-1991).
In 1993, as the student populace kept on growing, so there was a need for additional classrooms. The 4 –room school building was converted into a four storey building. This was made possible through the initiative and leadership of the school director, Rev. Msgr. Rodolfo A. Gallardo, who took over as a parish priest (1990). At present, the school offers courses for the preschool, elementary and secondary levels under the administration of the school director Rev. Fr. Amando N. Litana (2004)
Today Sta. Rosa Catholic School as an evangelical arm of the parish envisions herself as an educational institution committed to quality education, Christian formation and renewed evangelization.
